Police van driving against traffic kills final-year UNIPORT student


A police van driving against traffic has crushed to death a final-year student of the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Edah Oghenekevwe.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the van, with number plate, NPF1791D, which was driven by a policeman, identified as Inspector John Kanu, crushed Oghenekevwe on Sunday at the Assemblies of God Church Junction, Alakahia, Port Harcourt.

Guinness Nigeria sues NAFDAC over N1bn fine


Guinness Nigeria Plc has approached a Lagos High Court in Igbosere to challenge the N1bn fine imposed on it by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control.
The company urged the court to perpetually restrain NAFDAC from publicly discussing, analysing or providing any information to the media, whether print, electronic or in any other manner,” to suggest that the decision to sanction it was lawful.

FG may impose ‘tougher sanction’ on MTN Nigeria

The Federal Government may impose ‘a tougher sanction’ against MTN Nigeria over the telco’s decision to contend in court the N780bn fine imposed on it by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for regulatory infractions, Daily Trust has learnt.  
The South African telecoms operator filed a suit at the Federal High Court Lagos last week to quash the fine but NCC said yesterday it had yet to be served any court paper on the suit.
