Pay me my money, Fasehun tells Buhari

The founder of the Odua People’s Congress, Dr. Fredrick Fasehun, has asked the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to pay him and his organisation the money owed them for the protection of oil pipelines.

He explained that six companies were given the contract by the Goodluck Jonathan administration to guard pipelines belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

Fasehun said a total of 18,000 personnel were sent to the field out of which 4,000 were members of the OPC.

Nigeria Police promote 558 schoolteachers

Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has approved the promotion of five hundred and fifty eight teachers in police primary and secondary schools across the country.

It was learnt that the promotion, which takes immediate effect, was meant to address the complaints among the teaching staff and also to motivate them to perform better.

Somalia Government bans Christmas and New Year celebrations

Somalia’s Federal government has banned the celebrations of Christmas and New Year in the capital Mogadishu. It says celebrating Christmas is against faith of Somali Muslims and won’t allow it happen in the country.

Director General of Somalia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs, Sheikh Mohamed Khayrow announced the decision in a Press Conference held in Mogadishu along with the Vice Chairman of the Supreme Religious Council (SRC), Sheikh Nur Barud Gurhan.

Nigeria: Senate extends 2015 budget implementation to March 2016

The Nigeria Senate on Tuesday amended the 2015 Supplementary Appropriation Act to enable the Executive arm of government to implement the N557bn capital expenditure component in the budget till March next year.
