9 year old girls are ‘spiritually’ ripe for marriage - Lawmaker
A member of Malaysian parliament, Tasek Gelugor, has said
girls as young as nine were “physically and spiritually” ripe for marriage.
He said this on Wednesday in response to a proposal by an
opposition member of parliament to amend the Sexual Offences Against Children
bill to include a ban on child marriages
Man, 26, charged with stealing `kpomo in Lagos
One Adesanya Tobi, 26, on Wednesday appeared in an Ikeja
Magistrates’ Court charged with breaking into a shop and stealing 44 pieces of
cow skin popularly called `kpomo’, valued at N80,000 naira.
Tobi, whose address was not provided, pleaded not guilty to
the two counts of breaking and stealing preferred against him.

Meningitis: Governor accused of mishandling outbreak in state with over 200 deaths
Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State has
said that the ongoing outbreak of Type C Cerebrospinal Meningitis is God’s way
of showing his anger against Nigerians for turning their back on him.
Mr. Yari said this on Tuesday while speaking
with journalists at the presidential Villa Abuja shortly after meeting with
President Muhammdu Buhari.
Nigerian army sets up university
The
Nigerian Army has established a university in Biu, Borno State in north-eastern Nigeria, the Punch reports. The Army has
upgraded the Nigerian Army Institute of Technology and Environmental Studies to
Nigerian Army University of Technology and Environmental Studies the Nigerian
Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Burutai, disclosed on Monday.

Remembering Marvin Gaye, a legend who bought his death

Gaye won two Grammys while alive and
received a posthumous achievement award

Marvin Gaye would
have been 78 years old on April 2nd,
2017 but the legend met his death in the hands of
his father in 1984.
Ironically, the Soul singer
was shot twice with the 38 special caliber pistol he had bought for his father
to use for protection.
Before his death in
1984, Gaye first attained success in the 1960s, eventually getting a song ‘I
Heard It Through the Grapevine’ to reach the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100
list in 1968.
