Supersand Eagles yesterday defeated
Senegal 5-2 to win the 2013 Copa Lagos Beach Soccer Championships in Eko
Atlantic.
The final which was watched by a
packed crowd including former FIFA Executive Committee who was also the DG of
the National Sports Commission, Dr Amos Adamu saw the Nigerian who won last
year’s tournament scoring the first goal through Captain Isiaka Olawale in the
opening minute of the first period.
But the Senegalese responded in a
quickfire manner through their captain Ndiaye Diame to silence the partisan
home crowd.
On resumption of the second period
the Nigerian team showed their class as they scored 3 goals in 5 minutes to
send their teeming supporters into a wild frenzy.
Senegal pulled one back to make the
score 4-2. But the Nigerians restored their two-goal advantage through the most
valuable player, Abu.
