Pope Francis may visit South Korea in August

Vatican Spokesman, Father Federico Lombardi, on Wednesday, said Pope Francis might consider a trip to South Korea in August to meet with young Catholics in that country.
In what would be the pope's first visit to Asia, Lombardi said South Korea is where membership of the Church is increasing.
He added that the pontiff was also weighing visits to the Philippines and Sri Lanka, though these would not take place this year.
According to Church figures, Catholics make up roughly 10 per cent of the population of South Korea, visited twice by Pope John Paul II.
``The figure has grown by around three per cent per annum in the past 11 years,'' it added.
The pope made only one trip internationally so far, visiting Brazil in July, but would be due to visit sites in the Holy Land in May.
However, a visit to Asia would be his third international trip.
Lombardi said Pope Francis had received an invitation to visit Bosnia's capital, Sarajevo, but did not say a trip was planned.
