Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun Assures Paramount FM (FRCN) of Assistance Over Collapsed Mast

The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has assured the management and staff of Paramount FM, the branch of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) in Abeokuta that the government would assist in ensuring that the station comes back on air following the havoc caused by its collapsed mast.
Amosun, who gave this assurance when he visited the site of the mast which collapsed last Friday, described the incident as devastating and of serious concern to the government and people of the state.
He stated that an occurrence of such magnitude, if not quickly addressed, would leave a huge gap that would be unquantifiable, emphasising that “the media are important in the manner they help deepen democracy, educate and enlighten the citizenry, particularly the radio, which has penetrating reach in all the nooks and cranies of the state and beyond.
“This is a Federal outfit that benefits our people. So, we have to feel as concerned as the Federal Government. “It is not about Federal people. If anything happens in Ogun State, whether Federal or whatever, you will know that it’s our people that will be beneficiary of it.
“We will see what we can do. We may not be in a position to shoulder everything, but we will participate. We will contribute and make sure that the station quickly returns to active service and continue the good work,” he added.
The General Manager of the station, Mr Wale Adeboboye, stated that the collapsed mast, which also slightly affected the transmitter, would gulp between N40 million and 50 million Naira to fix.
