President Jonathan Charges Ambassadors to Help Correct Misconceptions about Nigeria

President Goodluck Jonathan Thursday charged foreign ambassadors serving in Nigeria to do all they could to show the world, the positive realities of Nigeria.
The president spoke when he had an audience with the outgoing Italian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Roberto Colamine, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Jonathan said showing the positive realities of Nigeria to the world, would in no small measure help in correcting current misconceptions and adverse misrepresentations of the country in the international community.
“The knowledge you have acquired here should be used positively to help us as you go back home,” the president told the ambassador.
President Jonathan in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, commended Colamine for his untiring efforts to strengthen and expand areas of bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and Italy during his tenure in Nigeria.
He said the facilitation of the training of some ex-Niger Delta militants in Italy as part of the Amnesty Programme by the Ambassador, was commendable.
The president said the gesture had helped to restore relative peace and security to the region.
In his remarks, Colamine told Jonathan that he had witnessed challenging political transitions in the country during his more than four-year tenure, but was glad to see the issues constitutionally resolved.
He commended the president for Nigeria’s continuing leadership role in Africa, as well as its efforts to promote peace, political stability and democracy in all parts of the continent.
