Gunmen Abducts Bayelsa State Commissioner and Cousin to Former Nigeria President

Armed gunmen on Sunday abducted Bayelsa State Commissioner for Local Government, Madam Serefina Otazi, barely 12 hours after the abduction of Gov Dickson’s sister in Bayelsa.
Bayelsa Commissioner for Local Government, Madam Serefina Otazi has been abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
According to Punch, the abduction occurred a day after a younger sister of Governor Seriake Dickson, Miss Nancy Dickson, was kidnapped alongside her salesgirl in Yenagoa.
It was learnt that Otazi who is a niece to former President, Goodluck Jonathan was abducted on Sunday afternoon in Jonathan’s hometown of Otuoke.
Patrick Oba, the Nephew of the commissioner, said that she was kidnapped in Otuoke on her way to Ewoi community in Ogbia Local Government Area of the state for a funeral at a gunpoint.
It was learnt that the kidnappers reportedly whisked away the victim who was in company with two ladies, and that when the kidnappers attacked her, they forcibly took away her car keys ostensibly to frustrate attempts to report the crime.
It was gathered that the two female occupants in the car and the driver were unharmed by the gunmen who sped off to an unknown destination in their own vehicle.
Endurance Frank, a family member, said that the family had reported the incident to the police. He urged the kidnappers to release the victim unhurt.
Spokesman for Bayelsa State Police Command, Asinim Butswat, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, confirmed the abduction. He said the command had intensified efforts to rescue the victim and apprehend the culprits
Otazi had served as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Acting Chairman of Ogbia LGA.
