Italian joint to sell 'Bob Marley' hemp seed ice cream

A north Italy-based ice cream parlour in the small resort town of Alassio – which is seven square miles with a population of approximately 11,000 – hopes to begin selling its Bob Marley inspired hemp treats before year end.
The parlour teamed with the Canapa Ligura organisation best known for promoting awareness of the health benefits associated with hemp to create the ice cream flavour as a tribute to the late reggae icon.
Hemp is a variant of the cannabis sativa or ganja plant, and is mainly used for making fibres and textiles. It is also refined into products such as seed foods, oil, wax, resin, rope, pulp, paper, and fuel.
The ice cream is made from the seeds of the plant, making it rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. According to (http://www.thelocal.it), the producers highlighted the benefits of the fatty acids, which include managing or preventing several ailments such as arteriosclerosis, cholesterol, osteoarthritis, respiratory disorders, eczema, and acne.
This is Marley’s second scoop of Europe in as many years. Last year, the world renowned Ben & Jerry's brand partnered with the 1Love Foundation to launch Satisfy My Bowl in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the his best-selling Legend album.
Satisfy My Bowl, undoubtedly an ode to Marley’s record Satisfy my Soul, is a banana ice cream with caramel and cookie swirls, and chocolate peace signs. The special edition dessert was sold across the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, and Norway.
The femalefirst.co.uk website reported that Marley’s daughter Cedella acknowledged Ben & Jerry’s effort as a celebration of her father's legacy of “bringing people together and using music to drive social change”. She also stated that proceeds from Satisfy My Bowl would go towards honing the creative skills of Jamaican youths to promote peace, love and social equality.
