Mountain of Fire Worshipers stop Church Service, accuse Cartel of Diverting Church Money

Hell was let loose at the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, South-South Region 11, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Sunday as aggrieved worshipers grounded the Sunday service over alleged mismanagement of church funds and unjustified sack of the pastor.
The infuriated protesters, who carried placards with different inscriptions, barricaded the entrance to the church premises with cars, demanding the immediate reinstatement of the sacked Regional Overseer of the church, Pastor Lanre Adekunle.
The protest which caused panic in the church brought the Sunday service to an abrupt halt.
A source who related the development in the church to newsmen, said that there had been several cases of mismanagement of funds in the church, saying the church has been unable to address the situation.
The source said a few people in the church were diverting church funds to their personal use, stressing that the cartel had always frustrated any genuine man of God posted to the church who would not allow the church funds to be embezzled.
Speaking, one of the leaders of the protest, who is also an elder in the church, Mr. Chukwu Okorafor, said their anger was about the conspiracy leading to the sack of Pastor Adekunle, whom he alleged was witch-hunted by the cartel for being scrupulous with the church funds.
Okorafor said that the cartel which was always interested in the church funds, stage-managed the sack of the pastor who was posted to the church two months ago because he was trying to stop them.
He said: “We will continue this protest until the General Overseer hears us and brings back our pastor, who is doing the true work of God in our region.”
